Gunilla von Bahr - flute
Gunilla von Bahr was born in Lund and has been active as a flutist for 40 years. During her long career she has done most everything connected with music. She has been orchestral player in some of the country’s largest symphony orchestras at the same time as she has freelanced as a chamber musician. Besides the classical flute repertoire, she has also devoted herself wholeheartedly to contemporary flute music. Over 70 compositions, among them 7 flute concerts have been composed for Gunilla. She has frequently toured as a soloist with orchestras and choirs around Europe and the USA. Gunilla von Bahr has had a vast record production with no less than 40 albums whereof ”Solflöjtskivorna” (Sun flute records) have become gold records with more than 200,000 albums sold. In addition to her soloist career she has been manager of Kronoberg County Music and CEO of Malmö Symphony Orchestra as well as artistic leader for Östersjöakademien & Norrtelje Kammarmusikfestival (Baltic Academy & Norrtelje Chamber Music Festival). Gunilla has also been vice-chancellor of Kungliga Musikhögskolan (the Royal University College of Music) in Stockholm. She spends much of her time working with the launching of young musicians, concert productions and Forum för Musik & Hälsa (Forum for Music & Health) as well as telling about her experiences from a long professional life. Gunilla von Bahr is also a member of Kungliga Musikaliska Akademien (the Royal Swedish Academy of Music).
